What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ‘ray key’) is a gentle touch therapy that reduces stress and promotes healing of the body, mind and spirit

 

 

How Does Reiki Work?

Reiki improves the quality of life and health by tapping into an unlimited supply of universal energy. Universal energy is the natural energy that flows through all living things. The technique of Reiki removes blocks and balances energy so that the body mind and spirit can restore itself to its natural state of health.

 

 

How is the Reiki method unique?

Reiki is different from Western medicine in that it allows the whole person, including body, emotions, mind and spirit, to come back into balance.  Ancient wisdom says that physical problems can manifest because of imbalance at any level. 

 

 

How does a person learn Reiki?

Reiki is a very simple hands-on technique that is not taught in the usual way, but is passed down from Reiki Master-Teacher to the Reiki student by way of an attunement.  This attunement process opens the student's energy channels to do Reiki healing work.

 

 

What Can Reiki Do For Me?

Some people use Reiki therapy for deep relaxation and stress relief.  Others want to speed up their own healing process following surgery.  Still others find that Reiki helps them manage chronic pain, headaches, and fatigue.

 

 

What Can I Expect in a Reiki Session?

Reiki therapy has been described as a 'wonderful glowing radiance' that surrounds you as the universal energy flows through the therapist to you.  The therapy session is non-invasive and uses no drugs.  You can sit in a chair, lie down, or even receive therapy standing up.  Full sessions last about one hour during which you remain clothed. During the session, all you need to do as the recipient is completely relax.  The therapist works down the body starting at the head, using gentle touch or holding her/his hands in the area just above your body.
